Concrete Canoe
About us
The ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition is a nationwide competition that provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing their project management and team skills. Every year, hundreds of universities come together to compete in designing, building, and racing a concrete canoe. These challenges serve to expand on students’ knowledge and creativity while demonstrating the versatility of concrete as a building material.
For over 45 years, Texas A&M has been competing in the production of concrete canoes, winning the Region 6 Student Competition as recently as 2022. Region 6 comprises Universities from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Mexico. The Texas A&M Concrete Canoe has consistently placed in regionals and has even gone to the national competition in 2015 and 2021. At nationals, the team has placed in the top 15 in the nation and in 6th place overall. For the past two years, the Concrete Canoe team has placed 2nd overall at the regional competition, but won 1st in Final Product Prototype in 2023 and 1st in Project Proposal in 2024, proving their prowess in various aspects of the competition. In the upcoming year, the Texas A&M Concrete Canoe team is excited and determined to show their excellence in this competition while fostering an inclusive environment for students to grow their skills and professionalism.
